A Greener Way To Holiday

A Greener Way To Holiday

A recent article by the Guardian newspaper states that a standard car ferry emits 10kg of CO2 per person on a round trip Dover - Calais, whereas a return flight from London to Paris emits a staggering 7 times as much. Even high speed catamarans come off better than air travel options!
At My Ferry Travel, we believe that ferry holidays are not only more fun than the run-of-the-mill flight package deal, but much more eco-friendly. Enjoy your holiday without the carbon-guilt by getting to your destination by ferry. You can also save money on transport at your destination by taking your own car, and even save money on accommodation by towing a caravan or travelling in a camper!
The Guardian’s eco travel writer, Richard Hammond, has this week written an article about island hopping in Sardinia, Corsica and Sicily…and we love it! The article cites everything we love about ferry travel; the fresh sea air, the glorious coastal views and the relaxing nature of a ferry trip. The journey really becomes a part of your holiday when you travel by ferry - and who wouldn’t choose a relaxing and scenic ferry ride over hours of queueing in a crowded airport and a lost luggage fiasco?
Richard travelled from Nice to Bastia by ferry, then across Corsica to Bonifacio, where he caught a ferry to Santa Teresa. From there it was on to Palermo from Cagliari, where he soaked up the sun and the Sicilian culture. Now that sounds like our kind of holiday!

He also lists great websites to book bargain ferries and accommodation!
